Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries, has announced plans to modernise SevenHills Hospital in Andheri into a 1,500-bed facility, making it one of the largest hospitals in Mumbai. The project aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the city, with a focus on specialised medical services.
Key Focus Areas
The upgraded hospital will prioritise clinical research, cancer care, emergency and trauma services, organ transplantation, and the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. This comprehensive approach is designed to address critical healthcare needs in the region.
Partnership with BMC
Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani stated that the hospital is being developed in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). As part of the initiative, more than 450 beds will be reserved for patients from economically weaker sections, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare.
Community Impact
This expansion is expected to significantly boost healthcare capacity in Mumbai, particularly for underprivileged communities. The modernised facility will incorporate advanced medical technologies and specialised units to cater to a wide range of health issues.
