Kolkata mulls water meters for commercial, industrial use

Kolkata: The state is considering the installation of water meters in commercial and industrial establishments. "There has to be a water meter for commercial use if not for residential houses," said state urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul on the sidelines of an interactive session organized by the Merchants Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday.

Rainwater Harvesting Plans

Paul said the state is also considering working on plans to develop rainwater harvesting. This initiative aims to address water scarcity and promote sustainable water management.

Jal Jeevan Mission in Bengal

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who met Union Minister of Jal Shakti C R Paatil at Nabanna, posted on X that the central government's flagship Jal Jeevan Mission is poised to be implemented across Bengal. The state, in collaboration with the Jal Shakti Ministry, will participate in projects like the Namami Gange Programme and Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
