Axiscades Technologies Announces Strategic Aerospace Alliance with Portugal's OGMA
In a significant development for India's aerospace sector, Bengaluru-based Axiscades Technologies has announced a strategic partnership with Portugal-based OGMA, a subsidiary of global aerospace giant Embraer. This collaboration marks a major step forward in India's aerospace manufacturing and maintenance capabilities.
Expanding Aerospace Services in India
The agreement between Axiscades and OGMA is specifically designed to expand high-value, long-term aerospace services within India. Axiscades aims to move beyond its traditional engineering design and manufacturing strengths to establish itself as a comprehensive aerospace solutions provider. Under this partnership, both companies will jointly pursue opportunities in aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), airframe engineering, and certification services for both commercial and military aircraft.
The collaboration brings together complementary strengths: Axiscades' expertise in aircraft design, avionics, radar systems, electronic warfare, system integration, and unmanned systems will combine with OGMA's extensive experience in airframe and engine MRO services. This synergy creates a powerful alliance capable of addressing complex aerospace requirements.
Strategic Market Positioning
One of the key aspects of this partnership involves providing maintenance and lifecycle support for Embraer aircraft operating in India, as well as platforms from other manufacturers. The Embraer fleet in India includes several important assets, including VVIP and VIP aircraft, airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems, and commercial jets.
OGMA brings valuable relationships with major global original equipment manufacturers to the table, including established working partnerships with Embraer, Airbus Defence, Rolls-Royce, and Pratt & Whitney. These connections are expected to significantly strengthen the scope and capabilities of the Axiscades-OGMA alliance.
Regional Expansion Plans
The partnership extends beyond India's borders, with both firms planning to jointly explore opportunities in the United Arab Emirates and the wider MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. These markets are experiencing growing demand for certified MRO and engineering services, presenting significant growth potential for the newly formed alliance.
Infrastructure Development in Bengaluru
Supporting this strategic partnership, Axiscades is developing a large integrated aerospace and defence manufacturing and MRO facility near the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. This upcoming hub represents a substantial investment in India's aerospace infrastructure and will feature dedicated aircraft hangars, engine and speed shops, welding facilities, electronics manufacturing units, system integration lines, and certification testing infrastructure.
Building Indigenous Capabilities
Company executives emphasize that this partnership will help build indigenous MRO capabilities in India while meeting global standards. The collaboration supports long-term growth in both defence and civil aviation services, positioning India as a significant player in the global aerospace maintenance and manufacturing ecosystem. This strategic move aligns with India's broader goals of developing self-reliance in critical defence and aerospace technologies while maintaining international quality standards.
