Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated a multi-storeyed parking facility at the SDA complex in Kasumpti area of Shimla, built at a cost of Rs 28.37 crore and capable of accommodating 315 vehicles.
CM Highlights Benefits for Residents and Tourists
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister stated that the parking facility will prove beneficial for both locals and tourists. He noted that the present state government had made adequate budget provisions to complete the construction work of this parking facility. Sukhu emphasized that Shimla requires more parking slots and the government is focusing on constructing additional facilities to meet the growing demand.
Infrastructure Upgrades for Shimla
The Chief Minister further said that the state government is spending Rs 246 crore for the construction of an underground utility duct system, aiming to transform Shimla into a more organized and efficient city. He added that overhead cables across the city are being shifted underground to improve its visual appeal and provide a better experience for all.
According to Sukhu, this initiative will not only strengthen the city's infrastructure but also support tourism by preserving Shimla's old glory and scenic beauty. He also mentioned that the state government has allocated a budget of Rs 150 crore for improving and widening Shimla's Circular Road, stating that decongestion of the Circular Road would go a long way in facilitating locals and tourists.
