East Central Railway Unveils Major Infrastructure Plan for Begusarai Station
In a significant move to address growing congestion, the Sonepur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) has announced a comprehensive development plan for Begusarai railway station. This initiative aims to construct a second entry point and enhance surrounding infrastructure to improve passenger experience and operational efficiency.
Second Entry Point to Ease Passenger Flow
According to Sonepur divisional railway manager Amit Saran, the railways is set to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the new entry point. Work is expected to commence after the approval of the DPR. The second entry will help manage the heavy flow of passengers more efficiently, particularly as traffic at the station has increased, putting pressure on existing facilities.
New Road Over Bridge to Reduce Delays
In addition to the entry point, the plan includes constructing a new road over bridge (ROB) at Semapur near level crossing gate number 3. This ROB is designed to ease bottlenecks caused by road traffic near the gate, which has been a major cause of delays, especially during peak hours. The infrastructure upgrades are part of broader efforts to enhance access and movement at the station.
Optimism for Enhanced Operational Efficiency
Sonepur senior divisional commercial manager Raushan Kumar expressed optimism that these projects will address the increasing demand for better facilities. He noted that the improvements will contribute significantly to smoother operations and overall efficiency in the region, benefiting both passengers and railway services.
