The 41st State Livestock Exhibition in Kurukshetra is set to introduce a novel attraction this year: a livestock 'catwalk' where priceless, high-quality breeds will strut their stuff on a ramp. This unique showcase is expected to draw significant attention to the fair, which will be held from February 6 to 8 at the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) Mela Ground.
Prize Money and Preparations
Dr. Anil Banwala, the Kurukshetra district deputy director of the Animal Husbandry Department, shared that the state government has allocated approximately Rs 1 crore for prize money. Livestock rearers whose animals win in various competitions will receive cash incentives, with the ramp display highlighting the top breeds. Dr. Banwala confirmed that all preparations for the fair have been fully completed, ensuring a smooth and well-organized event.
High-Profile Inauguration and Guests
The exhibition will be inaugurated on February 6 by Haryana's animal husbandry and agriculture minister, Shyam Singh Rana, with Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi attending as a special guest. On February 7, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Panchayati Raj, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (alias Lallan Singh), will serve as the chief guest, while Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap will preside. The closing ceremony on February 8 will feature Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as the chief guest, with Minister Shyam Singh Rana presiding.
Expected Participation and Logistics
Dr. Banwala anticipates participation from over 1 lakh farmers and livestock rearers across all 23 districts of Haryana. To facilitate attendance, the Animal Husbandry Department has arranged bus services for transportation to and from the venue. More than 1,500 animals of superior breeds will be displayed, competing in 53 different categories, making this one of the largest livestock events in the region.
Additional Attractions and Incentives
To boost engagement, farmers registering daily at the fair will have the chance to win attractive prizes, including Bullet motorcycles, through daily evening lucky draws. The event will also feature two major exhibitions with participation from over 100 government and private institutions, showcasing modern scientific technologies in animal husbandry and agriculture. Daily cultural programs and free refreshments have been arranged to create a lively and farmer-friendly atmosphere throughout the three-day fair.
