Nissan India has officially confirmed the launch date for its much-anticipated budget MPV, the Gravite. The seven-seater vehicle will make its market debut in the country on February 17, marking a significant entry into India's competitive automotive segment.
Gravite Launch Timeline and Reveal
The Gravite name was officially unveiled by Nissan in December 2025, accompanied by teaser images that provided the first glimpse of the MPV's design language. Originally scheduled for an earlier debut, the vehicle's unveiling experienced a postponement before receiving this confirmed launch date.
Design and Platform Details
From what has been revealed through teasers, the Nissan Gravite will share its platform with the Renault Triber while maintaining a distinct Nissan identity. The front fascia showcases a redesigned grille prominently featuring the Nissan badge, complemented by generous chrome accents that enhance its premium appeal.
The headlamps appear to have undergone a shape revision, while the bonnet incorporates a pronounced sculpted element that adds character to the vehicle's front profile. Moving to the side, the MPV is expected to feature newly-designed alloy wheels and functional roof rails that contribute to both aesthetics and utility.
Rear Design and Mechanical Specifications
At the rear, the Gravite will sport updated tail-lamps and a reworked bumper design. Chrome detailing continues throughout the rear section, with the Gravite name clearly displayed across the tailgate to distinguish it from its Renault platform sibling.
Mechanically, the Gravite is anticipated to mirror the Triber's specifications. Power will likely come from a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 horsepower and 96 Newton-meters of torque. Transmission options are expected to include both a 5-speed manual gearbox and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variant.
Strategic Importance for Nissan India
The Nissan Gravite represents a crucial model for the brand as it seeks to strengthen its foothold in India's highly competitive and price-sensitive MPV segment. This launch forms part of Nissan's broader strategy to expand its product portfolio in the Indian market.
Following the Gravite's introduction, Nissan has already confirmed plans for another product launch in India. The upcoming Tekton SUV will compete in the fiercely contested mid-size SUV segment, demonstrating the brand's commitment to expanding its presence across multiple vehicle categories in the Indian automotive landscape.
