Major Farmers' Conference Kicks Off at Prayagraj's Magh Mela
A significant five-day farmers' conference commenced on Thursday at the Ganga Pandal in Sector 5 of the Magh Mela area in Prayagraj. The event, designed to bridge the gap between farmers and modern agricultural advancements, has drawn widespread participation from the farming community.
Objective and Government Focus
Deputy Director of Agriculture, Pawan Vishwakarma, emphasized that the primary goal of this conference is to equip farmers with crucial information about new technologies and government schemes. "The government is working with the priority of doubling the income of farmers," Vishwakarma stated. "For this, it is essential to reduce the cost of agriculture and connect farmers with new technologies."
Large-Scale Participation and Exhibitions
Over 10,000 farmers are actively participating in this extensive event. Stalls from approximately 29 departments have been set up, including agriculture, animal husbandry, agricultural cooperatives, PCDCF, defence, horticulture, and fisheries. This diverse representation ensures a comprehensive coverage of various agricultural sectors.
Joint Director (Agriculture) Santosh Kumar Rai highlighted the effectiveness of such events. "Such events are proving effective for this purpose," Rai noted, referring to the mission of enhancing farmer livelihoods through technological integration.
Showcasing Innovations and Technologies
The conference provides a vital platform for institutions and companies operating in the agricultural sector to showcase their latest technologies and equipment to farmers. Two dozen institutions and companies are engaging directly with farmers, presenting innovative solutions aimed at improving agricultural productivity and efficiency.
One of the key highlights includes live demonstrations on the use of drones in agriculture. These demonstrations are intended to familiarize farmers with drone technology, which can revolutionize farming practices through precision agriculture, crop monitoring, and efficient resource management.
Strong Initial Turnout
On the first day alone, the conference witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 2,500 farmers participating. This robust initial engagement underscores the high interest and need for such informative gatherings among the farming community in the region.
The event continues to serve as a crucial hub for knowledge exchange, fostering connections between farmers, government bodies, and private sector innovators to drive agricultural progress in Uttar Pradesh.
