Shree Refrigerations has opened a new defence manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, significantly boosting the region's defence production capabilities. The expansion adds nearly 50,000 sq ft of manufacturing space, with scope for a further 50,000 sq ft as future demand grows.
Facility Details and Expansion Potential
The new facility is designed to enhance the company's capacity to manufacture components for the defence sector. The initial 50,000 sq ft will be used for production, while the additional 50,000 sq ft can be activated based on market requirements. This expansion is part of Shree Refrigerations' strategy to support India's defence indigenisation efforts.
Impact on Defence Manufacturing
According to Mrityunjay Bose, the facility will cater to increasing demand from defence contractors and government agencies. The move aligns with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, aiming to reduce dependence on imports. The company expects to create new jobs and contribute to the local economy in Maharashtra.
