The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited interest for the financial year 2025-26 into the accounts of its subscribers. With the interest rate fixed at 8.25% for the year, millions of employees across India can now verify the credit through the online portal.
How to Check EPFO Interest Credit
Subscribers can check whether the interest has been credited by accessing their UAN (Universal Account Number) member portal. The process involves logging into the EPFO's unified portal and viewing the passbook. According to an EPFO official, "Members can check their passbook online and see the interest credited for the year."
Steps to View Your EPF Passbook
The following steps will help members check their interest credit:
- Visit the official EPFO website: epfindia.gov.in
- Click on 'Our Services' and then 'Member Passbook' under 'For Employees'
- Enter your UAN, password, and captcha to log in
- Select the member ID for which you want to view the passbook
- The passbook will show your opening balance, contributions, and interest credited for 2025-26
It is important to ensure that your UAN is activated and linked to your KYC details such as Aadhaar and bank account to access these services.
Key Points About the Interest Credit
The interest credited is subject to the annual rate declared by the EPFO. For 2025-26, the rate was set at 8.25%, which is higher than the previous year's 8.15%. The interest is calculated on the monthly running balance and credited at the end of the financial year. Employees who have contributed through their salary can see the interest added to their corpus.
If the interest is not visible, it may be due to delays in data upload from the employer or pending reconciliation. Subscribers should contact their employer or raise a grievance through the EPFO portal if the credit does not reflect within a few weeks.
Additional Facilities
The EPFO also allows members to download their passbook as a PDF for record-keeping. Additionally, the UMANG app provides a mobile interface to check the passbook and other EPFO services. The official emphasized that the passbook is the most direct way to confirm the interest credit.
With this credit, the total corpus of EPF subscribers has grown, providing a higher retirement savings buffer. Members are advised to regularly check their passbook to ensure all contributions are being deposited and interest is correctly credited.
