The University of Delhi has announced a revised schedule for the second round of admissions to its postgraduate programmes for the 2026-27 academic session, specifically for candidates applying under the Children/Widows (CW) supernumerary quota for dependents of defence personnel. The updated timeline was released on Sunday, July 26, 2026, through an official notification.
Key Dates for Round-2 Allocation
According to the university, the Round-2 seat allocation list for performance-based PG programmes, as well as for CW and Ward supernumerary quota admissions, will be published on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Candidates who are offered seats must accept their allocation online from July 29 until 4:59 PM on Friday, July 31. Following acceptance, the concerned departments, centres, and colleges will verify and approve online applications from July 29 until 4:59 PM on Saturday, August 1. The final step of online fee payment must be completed by 4:59 PM on Sunday, August 2.
The university further stated that it may announce additional rounds of seat allocation depending on the number of vacant seats remaining after Round-2.
Understanding the Children/Widows (CW) Quota
The CW quota is a supernumerary reservation specifically for the children and widows of defence personnel, including eligible categories of serving and retired Armed Forces personnel, as per the university’s prescribed priority list. This quota is implemented separately from the regular admission process and is based on eligibility, merit, and the priority category certified through a valid Educational Concession Certificate (ECC).
Required Documents for CW Quota Applicants
Candidates seeking admission under the CW quota must submit a valid Educational Concession Certificate (ECC) in the prescribed format. The ECC must be issued by a competent authority such as the Kendriya Sainik Board, Rajya Sainik Board, Zila Sainik Board, or the concerned Record Office of the Armed Forces. This certificate is essential to establish eligibility and determine the applicant’s priority category under the CW quota.
In addition to the ECC, candidates need to provide their CUET scorecard, qualifying examination certificates and mark sheets, a valid government-issued photo identity proof, passport-size photographs, and any applicable category certificate for reservations under SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, or other reserved categories, as specified in the University of Delhi admission guidelines.
Additional Rounds and Seat Availability
The university has indicated that it may conduct further rounds of seat allocation if sufficient vacancies remain after the completion of Round-2. This provides an opportunity for candidates who were not allotted seats in earlier rounds or who missed the acceptance deadlines.
