Assam Housing Loan Subsidy: Up to Rs 2.5 Lakh

The Assam government has introduced the 'Aponar Apon Ghar' scheme to provide subsidies of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on housing loans, making home ownership more affordable for middle and lower-income families. This initiative aims to reduce the cost of borrowing for first-time homebuyers.

Subsidy Details

Under the scheme, permanent residents of Assam can receive financial assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh, depending on the loan amount:

  • Loan between Rs 5-10 lakh: Subsidy of Rs 1 lakh
  • Loan between Rs 10-20 lakh: Subsidy of Rs 1.5 lakh
  • Loan between Rs 20-30 lakh: Subsidy of Rs 2 lakh
  • Loan between Rs 30-40 lakh: Maximum subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a permanent resident of Assam
  • Housing loan must be availed from any Scheduled Commercial Bank, Regional Rural Banks, or Assam Cooperative Apex Bank within the state
  • Total family income must not exceed Rs 20 lakh
  • Housing loan amount must be more than Rs 5,00,000
  • Loan must be sanctioned on or after April 1, 2019
  • Loan account must not be classified as Non-Performing Asset (NPA)
  • Neither the applicant nor any immediate family member should already own a house
  • Individuals who have previously availed benefits under the earlier Apun Ghar Scheme are not eligible

Required Documents

Applicants need to provide: Income certificate, identity proof, residence proof of Assam, proof of land ownership, bank account details, latest salary slips, salary account statement for the past six months, service proof of minimum five years, statement of personal assets and liabilities, and passport-size photographs.

Application Process

Applications are accepted only online. Applicants must visit the official website and navigate to the 'Click here for Loan Subsidy' section. Click on the scheme, fill in the required details, and save. To check application status, click 'track' on the 'Application Tracking' system at the bottom of the home page, and submit your mobile number and loan account or application number.

According to the Assam government, the scheme is intended to advance the vision of 'Housing for All' by making home ownership more accessible through subsidised housing finance.
