The Bengaluru South City Corporation (BSCC) is exploring the use of vacant plots to address the growing parking shortage in the area. Commissioner K N Ramesh has instructed officials to identify such properties and negotiate agreements with their owners to develop temporary or permanent parking facilities.
Addressing Parking Woes
With increasing vehicle density and limited public parking spaces, the corporation aims to utilize idle land efficiently. The move is expected to reduce illegal parking on roads and ease traffic congestion in busy neighborhoods.
Implementation Plan
Officials will survey vacant plots across South Bengaluru, prioritizing areas with high commercial activity. The corporation plans to enter into short-term or long-term leases with property owners, ensuring fair compensation. The facilities will be managed by the BSCC or private operators through tenders.
This initiative aligns with broader urban mobility strategies to promote organized parking and discourage encroachments. Residents and business owners have welcomed the proposal, hoping it will bring relief to commuters.
