The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has completed the financial evaluation for the newly planned community centre in Sector 29 and received the lowest bid of approximately Rs 7.8 crore for the construction work. This bid is around 7.2 percent lower than the tender amount of Rs 8.4 crore. The process of allotting the work has commenced and is expected to be finalized within a week to ten days.
Project Scope and Phases
The project is a major undertaking involving multiple phases. Initially, the existing community centre will be demolished, followed by the construction of a new building. The corporation will execute the project according to the plan approved by the UT urban planning department.
Sources indicated that the urban planning department has issued detailed drawings specifying the construction and open areas, along with dimensions and related structural aspects of the approved building. All required facilities have been incorporated into the plan.
Building Specifications
For the Sector 29 project, the urban planning department has approved the construction of ground, first, and second floors. There is no provision for basement parking; only surface parking will be available. The plan includes facilities for marriage functions such as a hall, rooms for the bride and groom, toilets, and an open area.
