Fire Engulfs Four Shops in Surat's Adajan, No Casualties

A massive fire engulfed at least four shops in the Adajan area of Surat on Thursday morning, triggering panic among residents and causing major traffic disruptions. No casualties were reported as the establishments were closed at the time of the incident.

Emergency Response

According to Surat Fire and Emergency Services (SFES), an emergency call was received at 9:34 am. A team from the nearest fire station was dispatched immediately, but as the blaze spread rapidly through multiple shops, additional resources were rushed to the scene. In total, six fire station teams, around 15 fire vehicles, and nearly 70 firefighters were deployed.

“Quick response helped prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby restaurant and other adjoining properties,” said SFES fire officer S.D. Dhobi.

Affected Establishments

The affected establishments included an electric vehicle showroom, where several vehicles were gutted, along with a medical store, a fast-food outlet, and an ice cream shop. Firefighters had to break open shutters to access the premises and battled dense smoke using breathing apparatus sets.

Fire Control and Investigation

The blaze was brought under control after nearly two hours, followed by cooling operations to prevent reignition. The cause of the fire remains unknown and will be determined after a detailed investigation, officials said.
