Lucknow's First Glow Garden: Rs 10 Crore Nighttime Marvel at Joggers Park
Lucknow's First Glow Garden Takes Shape at Joggers Park

The city of Nawabs is about to get a dazzling new addition to its urban landscape. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is fast-tracking work to establish Lucknow's very first Glow Garden at the popular Joggers Park located in the Basant Kunj Scheme on Hardoi Road. This ambitious project, budgeted at Rs 10 crore, is set to transform the 17.5-acre green space into a luminous nighttime destination for families, fitness enthusiasts, and tourists.

A Dazzling Transformation: What the Glow Garden Will Feature

The core concept revolves around creating a magical atmosphere after dark through innovative lighting. The garden will feature a variety of illuminated structures and themed sculptures. Visitors can expect to see lighting installations crafted in the shapes of trees, birds, flowers, and animals, creating a fantastical environment. The project will also utilize gobo lighting techniques to project intricate glowing patterns onto pathways and surfaces.

Adding to the visual spectacle, the plan includes installing new fountains in five existing water bodies within the park. The inspiration for this glow garden concept comes from successful models elsewhere in the country, notably the Unity Glow Garden situated near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

More Than Just Lights: Upgraded Amenities for Public Wellness

Beyond the illumination, the LDA's renovation has a strong focus on enhancing public amenities and promoting health. The upgrade includes developing an open-air gym, a dedicated yoga hut, and a new children's play area. In a unique touch to encourage wellness, sculptures depicting 12 different yoga postures (asanas) will be installed near the yoga hut.

Addressing a persistent issue, the existing 800-meter jogging track, which had been damaged due to waterlogging, is being comprehensively repaired. The track is also being elevated to prevent future flooding during the monsoon season, ensuring it remains usable year-round.

Improved Access and Ongoing Work

To manage the expected increase in visitors and improve overall access, the authorities are developing an upgraded entrance plaza and adding a new northern gate to the park. This is crucial as the park is strategically located on a key road connecting the Basant Kunj Scheme with the old city and already draws large crowds.

According to LDA officials, the civil works for the Glow Garden are largely complete. The focus has now shifted to the electrical and lighting installations. Landscaping, fountain installation, and rigorous testing of the lighting systems are being carried out in a phased manner to ensure safety and durability.

Once finished, the Glow Garden is poised to give Joggers Park a distinct new identity. Officials believe it will become a significant visual landmark for Lucknow, attracting residents and visitors alike to experience the park in a whole new light—literally. The project underscores a growing trend of developing immersive public spaces that extend their utility and appeal well into the evening hours.
