Vijayawada: R Pavan Reddy, the son of a farmer from Kurnool, has achieved an impressive 481 out of 500 marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examinations, overcoming significant financial hardships at home.
Overcoming Financial Struggles
Pavan said his parents continued to support his education despite the uncertainties in farming income. "Even though there were many financial struggles in my family, my parents managed everything for my studies. I studied so that one day their struggles would reduce," he said.
Aspiring Doctor
Aspiring to become a doctor, Pavan also appeared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and is expecting around 705 marks based on the provisional answer key. He credited his parents and teachers for their constant support during preparation.
Father's Support
His father, R Yugandhar Reddy, said he decided to provide the best possible education for his son after seeing his academic performance from Class X itself. "Income from farming depends completely on the season. Some years we earn well and some years are difficult. But we will somehow manage if our children want to study," he said.
His father added that the family earns nearly Rs 3 lakh annually through agriculture and mentioned that Pavan's elder brother had also secured a free seat at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Other Toppers
Ravipati Jaswanth Ram of Narayana Educational Institutions, Vijayawada, scored 492 out of 500 marks (98.4%). "I was shocked and happy because I did not expect this score," he said. Jaswanth relied mainly on textbooks, prepared answers in his own words, and referred to YouTube videos during preparation. He now aims to crack NEET and pursue neurology.
Interestingly, Polamarasetty Mishanth from Sudhiksha IIT and Medical Academy, Kurmannapalem, who scored 92.2%, said he aspires to become a theoretical physicist. "I prepared for nearly 12 hours a day while balancing Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and board exam preparation," he said. Mishanth plans to pursue core engineering at an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) before moving into research in physics.
Vegi Hemaharshini from The Presidential School, Visakhapatnam, secured 480 marks (96%). She said consistency played a key role in her preparation. "I measured my work, not the number of hours I studied," she said. Hemaharshini, who wants to pursue bioinformatics, credited her teachers and parents for their support, particularly her chemistry mentor Vijaya.
CBSE Results Overview
CBSE data showed that 1,349 students from the Vijayawada region were placed in compartment, accounting for 5.44% of the candidates who appeared. Students placed in compartment can appear for supplementary examinations scheduled on July 15.
