The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has officially announced the Class 10 Annual Examination Result 2026 on its website, hpbose.org. According to the board, 83.87% of students successfully cleared the matriculation examination, marking a significant improvement in the state's board performance compared to the previous two years. The result was declared during a press conference held at the board headquarters in Dharamshala by HPBOSE Chairman Dr. Rajesh Sharma.
Pass Percentage Registers Strong Improvement
This year's result figures indicate a steady upward trend in student performance across Himachal Pradesh. The board reported that 93,694 students appeared for the Class 10 board examination conducted throughout the state. The pass percentage has climbed substantially over the last three years:
- 2024: 74.61%
- 2025: 79.8%
- 2026: 83.87%
The improvement of more than four percentage points from last year signals stronger academic performance and better overall outcomes in both government and private schools.
Girls Continue to Dominate Merit List
Once again, girls emerged as the strongest performers in the HPBOSE matric examination. Female candidates secured most of the top positions in the provisional merit list released by the board. Out of 45,079 girls who appeared for the examination, 38,449 cleared the exam successfully. Among boys, 39,701 students passed out of 48,097 candidates. The merit list saw students from Kangra, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Mandi dominate the top ranks.
Kangra Student Tops Himachal Pradesh
Anmol from A.V.M Senior Secondary School secured the first rank in the state by scoring 699 marks out of 700. With an exceptional 99.86%, she emerged as the state topper in the HPBOSE Class 10 Examination 2026, turning her school into a celebration ground soon after the announcement.
Three Students Share Second Rank
The second rank was jointly secured by three students who each scored 698 marks, achieving 99.71%. The students are:
- Abhinav Mehta from Government Senior Secondary School
- Purnima Sharma from Government Girls Senior Secondary School
- Roohani Dhiman from Government Senior Secondary School
Their performances added to the strong showing by government schools in this year's examination.
Third Rank Shared by Two Students
The third position was jointly secured by two candidates who scored 697 marks, registering 99.57%. They include:
- Ashwika Sharma from Neelam Public Senior Secondary School
- Alisha Thakur from Oxford School
Board Plans Tougher Anti-Cheating Measures
HPBOSE Chairman Dr. Rajesh Sharma stated that the board is preparing to tighten examination security in the coming years. According to the board, audio and video recording systems are expected to be introduced at examination centres from the next exam cycle onwards. This move aims to strengthen surveillance and curb unfair practices during board examinations across the state.
Students Can Download Provisional Marksheet Online
Students can now check and download their provisional scorecards through the official website of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education. The online marksheet includes subject-wise marks, total marks obtained, division, and qualifying status. However, the board clarified that the online scorecard is provisional. Original mark sheets and certificates will be distributed later through respective schools.
