Bhopal: Ahead of the re‑scheduled NEET for medical admissions this Sunday, authorities have tightened security and logistics to prevent a repeat of last month’s paper leak.
In a notable change, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will now handle transport of exam papers from the control room to the 32 exam centres, down from 33 centres now, across the district. The duty previously performed by local police. District officials said the swap aims to reduce risk of tampering. Vehicles carrying the papers will be monitored by district administration staff, the Bhopal collector Priyank Mishra said after a district level coordination committee (DLCC) meeting on Thursday.
Preparations have been under way for the past 15 days. Mishra told the DLCC that 13,724 candidates are registered to sit the test at 32 centres, including MANIT, Subhash Utkrisht School, Kamala Nehru Girls’ School and Hamidia Boys’ School (Ginnori). Nodal officer and additional collector PC Shakya said centre superintendents have been briefed on strict handling and security protocols for the papers.
Authorities also outlined student-support measures. Public distribution system (PDS) shopkeepers near exam venues will act as on-site guides, providing tea, breakfast, water and meals to students arriving from outside; temporary stalls will be set up where shops are not available. Officials on Thursday inspected each centre’s arrangements, checking water supply, toilets, ventilation and entry/exit gates to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.
The tightened security and logistical support come amid efforts to reassure candidates and curb malpractice after the earlier leak incident.
