Surat district emerged as the top-performing district in Gujarat's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, results for which were declared on Wednesday. The district recorded the highest number of A1-grade students in the state, along with strong overall pass figures. The Adajan examination centre posted the best performance among all centres in the district.
Surat's A1 Grade Performance
Out of a statewide total of 35,508 students who achieved the prestigious A1 grade, Surat district alone contributed 6,475 students, accounting for 18.24% of the state's A1 scorers. This placed Surat well ahead of other districts. Rajkot followed with 4,262 A1 students, while Bhavnagar had 2,434, Banaskantha 1,881, Ahmedabad Rural 1,780, Ahmedabad City 1,755, and Vadodara 1,582.
Overall Pass Statistics
A total of 81,652 students from Surat district appeared for the Class X examinations, of whom 70,254 successfully passed. This translates to a pass percentage of approximately 86.04%. In the A2 grade category, 14,532 students from Surat secured the grade out of 1,20,280 students across the state, making up 12.08% of Gujarat's A2 scorers.
School and Centre Performance
As many as 103 schools in the district achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, although this number is marginally lower than last year's figure of 107. However, two schools in the district recorded pass rates below 10%, indicating areas of concern. Centre-wise, the Adajan centre recorded the highest pass percentage at 94.93%, while the Madhi centre reported the lowest at 60.22%.
Top Performers from Surat
Several students from Surat featured among the state's top performers. Divya Makwana from Ashadeep School scored an impressive 592 marks out of 600. Yashvi Donga from PP Savani School secured 587 marks. Following closely were Ved Mavanni, Harsh Hadiya, and Hant Dhameliya, each with 583 marks. Twin brothers Vansh Gajera, who scored 581, and Vraj Gajera, with 576 marks, also posted strong results, adding to the district's success.
