Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday launched a career guidance help desk for students who have completed Class XII. The DMK students' wing has been entrusted with the task of helping students with career guidance.
DMK students' wing secretary Veeramani Jayakumar said, "The help desk will help students choose the best course. Three DMK students' wing functionaries will be appointed for every district to aid students." Students will get details of courses available in colleges, details of campus interviews and trending courses, she said. "Our CM has been insisting on the importance of education and has been saying that education is our only property that can't be stolen."
Veeramani flayed youth who supported TVK president Vijay as 'tharkuris' (illiterates). "TN was believed to be a knowledgeable society, but now a section of youth have become 'tharkuris'. We have to streamline them too and so we have taken up this measure. Vijay should be thanked because only after his advent into politics we came to know that there are youth who vote merely for skin colour," Veeramani said.
Asked whether parties like DMK and left parties failed to groom youth in their college days, Veeramani said Vijay has helped them identify youth and this will help them take corrective measures. On whether DMK has distanced itself from students, she said students were with them but a section had left them. "We will reform them and make them aware," she said.
