Class X is widely regarded as a turning point in a student's academic journey. It provides pathways into law, journalism, psychology, teaching, civil services, public administration, design and several other professions.
Avoiding Peer and Family Pressure
One of the biggest mistakes students make is selecting a stream simply because their friends are choosing it or because they feel pressured by family expectations. While guidance from parents and teachers is important, the final decision should be based on a student's own interests, abilities and long-term aspirations. After all, students are more likely to succeed in subjects they genuinely enjoy than in those they study only to meet someone else's expectations.
The Role of Schools in Career Guidance
Schools also have a vital role to play. Career counselling sessions, aptitude tests and interactions with professionals can help students discover their strengths and gain a realistic understanding of different careers. Instead of relying on popular opinions or outdated beliefs, students should explore all available options before making such an important choice.
