Thirteen CBSE Class 12 students have appealed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to release their pending revaluation results, as the delay is affecting their college admission processes. The students, who applied for revaluation of their answer sheets, say the board has not yet declared the outcomes despite the commencement of college admissions across many states.
Students Face Admission Roadblocks
The students, who are from different schools across India, have been waiting for weeks for the revaluation results. Many of them have secured seats in colleges but are unable to confirm admissions due to the pending results. According to the students, the CBSE had earlier assured that the revaluation results would be declared within a specific timeframe, but the deadline has passed without any update.
“We are stuck in a limbo. Our college admissions are at stake because the board has not released the revised marks. We have written multiple emails and visited the regional office, but there is no response,” said one of the students, who wished to remain anonymous.
CBSE Revaluation Process
The CBSE conducts revaluation for Class 12 answer sheets upon request by students who are not satisfied with their marks. The process involves re-checking the answer sheets by a different examiner. The board usually declares the revaluation results within a few weeks, but this year the delay has been unusually long.
As per CBSE data, over 1.5 lakh students applied for revaluation of their Class 12 answer sheets in 2025. The board had earlier set a deadline of June 15 for declaring the results, but it was missed. The students claim that the delay is causing them mental stress and financial loss, as many colleges charge late fees for admission after the deadline.
Appeal to Board Officials
The group of 13 students has sent a joint representation to the CBSE chairperson and regional officers, urging them to expedite the process. They have also sought a meeting with board officials to discuss the issue. “We request the board to release the results at the earliest so that we can complete our college admissions without any further hassle,” the appeal stated.
Some students have even approached the Delhi High Court through a petition, but the court has not yet issued a directive. The matter highlights the challenges faced by students during the admission season when board results play a crucial role in determining their future academic paths.
Impact on College Admissions
Colleges across India, including those under the Delhi University and other central universities, have started their admission processes for the 2025-26 academic session. Many institutions have set strict deadlines for document verification and fee payment. Students awaiting revaluation results are unable to meet these deadlines, risking the loss of their seats.
“We have already paid the admission fees for some colleges, but without the final marksheet, we cannot complete the process. It is a very stressful situation,” said another student. The CBSE has not yet issued an official statement regarding the delay, but sources indicate that the board is working on clearing the backlog.
Previous Instances of Delays
This is not the first time that CBSE has faced criticism for delaying revaluation results. In 2024, similar complaints were raised by students, leading to interventions by the Ministry of Education. The board had then promised to streamline the process, but the current delay suggests that the issue remains unresolved.
Education experts say that such delays can have a cascading effect on students’ academic and career plans. “The board must ensure timely declaration of revaluation results, especially during the admission season. Any delay can seriously impact students’ future,” said an education analyst.
The students hope that their appeal will prompt the CBSE to act quickly and release the results before the admission deadlines lapse.
