The Centralised Admission Portal (CAP) for undergraduate admissions in West Bengal state-aided colleges closed at midnight on Monday, recording a total of 24.6 lakh applications and registrations from over 4.4 lakh candidates. In a parallel development, Presidency University also closed its UG admission portal on Monday after receiving more than 15,000 applications.
CAP Merit List and Seat Allocation Schedule
The CAP merit list is scheduled to be published on June 9, followed by seat allocation and admission processes from June 9 to 15. The registration process for CAP had commenced on June 18. Department officials expressed optimism about the overall UG admission scenario across state-aided colleges this year.
Of the total applications received through CAP, approximately 1.9 lakh are from male applicants and around 2.5 lakh from female candidates, indicating a higher participation of women in the admission process.
Presidency University's Independent Admission Process
Presidency University opened its admission portal on May 19, and the university is conducting its own admission process after a gap of ten years. The university has 17 departments offering undergraduate courses. Among these, six departments — Chemistry, Statistics, Life Sciences, Economics, History, and Political Science — will admit students based on entrance tests. The remaining 11 departments will admit students based on a formula that considers the marks obtained in Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
The entrance tests for the six subjects will be held between June 12 and 14. Candidates are advised to check the university's official website for detailed schedules and guidelines.
