The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 1,186 vacancies across various departments of the Bihar government. Originally, the notification was issued on May 5, 2026, and the application process commenced on May 7, 2026. The total number of vacancies was revised from 1,230 to 1,186 after the withdrawal of 44 Sugarcane Officer posts, which were transferred under separate rules.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university. Certain posts have specific educational requirements; for example, the Financial Administrative Officer post requires a background in commerce, mathematics, statistics, or economics. The age limit for general male candidates is 20 to 37 years as of August 1, 2026. Age relaxation applies to women, backward classes, and SC/ST candidates as per government norms.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100 for all categories. Candidates without an Aadhaar card must pay an additional ₹200 biometric charge. Payment is to be made online.
Selection Process
The selection consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Examination: 150 objective-type questions, 2 hours duration, with negative marking of one-third mark per incorrect answer.
- Main Examination: Includes papers on General Hindi, General Studies, essay, and an optional subject. Candidates are shortlisted at a ratio of 10 times the total vacancies.
- Interview: Final stage for selected candidates.
