The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has decided to re-conduct its entrance examination for all candidates following disruptions reported at a Delhi centre during the test held on April 26. The decision was made after a thorough review of a report submitted by a committee formed to investigate the incident.
Full Re-examination Across the Country
In an official statement, the institute confirmed that the written examination will be held again for all papers across the nation. The move aims to ensure a uniform, fair, and credible assessment process, providing a level playing field to all candidates. Concerns about the overall perception of fairness and integrity of the examination process arose due to operational deficiencies and a major disruption at the Delhi centre, which led to the cancellation of the exam at that location.
Details of the Disruption
The incident occurred on April 26 at a Delhi centre, where the examination had to be cancelled in a specific building after a disruption. A few students reportedly entered the strong room, manhandled staff, and created a law-and-order situation following a delay in paper distribution. In response, an emergency meeting was held with the examination agency and centre officials. The exam for that building was cancelled, with police and an FTII observer present at the site.
Later, during the second shift, the FTII observer noted concerns raised by some candidates, leading to the cancellation of the second-shift exam in the same building as well.
Revised Schedule and Candidate Instructions
FTII has stated that candidates do not need to register again for the re-examination. Their existing application details will be used. The institute will announce the revised schedule and issue fresh admit cards through its official website at least one month in advance. The institute expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to candidates and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a smooth, transparent, and fair conduct of the re-examination.
