NEET Re-Exam in Bihar Busted: 30 Arrested in Real-Life Munna Bhai MBBS Scam
NEET Re-Exam Scam in Bihar: 30 Arrested

In a shocking revelation reminiscent of the Bollywood film 'Munna Bhai MBBS', Bihar police have busted a massive impersonation racket during a NEET re-examination, arresting 30 individuals. The scam involved candidates paying large sums to professional impersonators to take the medical entrance test on their behalf.

Operation Details

The arrests were made on June 22, 2026, across multiple districts in Bihar, including Patna, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur. According to senior police officials, the racket was uncovered during a re-exam conducted for candidates who had initially failed or missed the main NEET exam. The impersonators, some of whom were medical students themselves, were paid between Rs 5-10 lakh per candidate.

Police recovered mobile phones, fake admit cards, and cash worth Rs 50 lakh from the accused. The mastermind, identified as a local coaching center owner, is still at large. The investigation revealed that the gang had been operating for at least two years, helping over 100 candidates cheat in various competitive exams.

Modus Operandi

The impersonators would use forged documents to enter the exam hall, while the real candidates stayed outside. The gang used encrypted messaging apps to coordinate and collect payments. "This is a serious blow to the integrity of medical education," said a senior police officer. "We are committed to ensuring that genuine candidates get a fair chance."

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the re-exam was ordered after irregularities were detected in the original NEET exam held in May. The NTA has announced that the results of the re-exam will be withheld pending investigation.

Impact on Students

The scam has caused widespread outrage among medical aspirants. Many genuine candidates who worked hard for the exam expressed frustration. "It's disheartening that people can buy their way into medical colleges," said a student from Patna. The arrests have also raised questions about the security measures in place for such high-stakes exams.

Government Response

The Bihar government has promised a thorough investigation and stricter security protocols for future exams. Education Minister said, "We will not tolerate any form of cheating. Strict action will be taken against all those involved." The NTA is also reviewing its procedures to prevent such incidents.

This incident highlights the persistent problem of exam fraud in India, despite technological advancements like biometric verification. The police have urged candidates to report any suspicious activities to ensure a level playing field.
