Ten-year-old Aryama Shukla captivated a packed audience at Lucknow University with a breathtaking display of memory and focus. Blindfolded and under intense time pressure, she attempted to shatter two separate Guinness World Records in a single, high-stakes sitting.
A Minute of Mathematical Mastery
The young student from City Montessori School's Aliganj Campus II recited an astonishing 360 decimal places of Euler's number. This effort aimed to surpass the existing record of 281 places, held by Sanchi Gourineni from the United States. Without pausing, Aryama then flawlessly recited 630 decimal places of Pi, targeting the current record of 598 places set by China's Fang Zhao.
She completed both feats within a strict one-minute timeframe. The entire attempt unfolded at the Paranjpe Pavilion ground on the university campus this Tuesday. Organizers meticulously followed all official Guinness World Record guidelines to ensure the attempt's validity.
Rigorous Verification and a History of Excellence
The final results now await official confirmation from Guinness authorities. An independent witness, Kamlesh Kumar, a scientist from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, observed the entire event. Nirmal Srivastava, an assistant professor of mathematics at National PG College, verified the accuracy of every recited number.
Mohammad Tariq and Sharad Chaurasia managed the crucial timekeeping duties. This was not Aryama's first foray into record-breaking. Last year, she narrowly missed a similar attempt. Her previous accomplishments include earning a World Record of Excellence for reciting the entire Bhagavad Gita in just two hours and ten minutes.
The Lucknow University grounds fell silent as the clock ticked down. All eyes were on the determined young girl with the blindfold. Her performance has sparked immense local pride and anticipation for the official Guinness verdict.
