AMU Student Dies by Suicide During Video Call with Father

A tragic incident unfolded at Aligarh Muslim University late Monday night when a 20-year-old student allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room. The young woman was speaking to her father on a video call at the time.

Student Identified as Inshah Fatima

The deceased has been identified as Inshah Fatima, a final-year diploma student in computer science engineering. She hailed from Azamgarh and resided at Sarojini Naidu Hall on the AMU campus.

Video Call Turns Tragic

According to police reports, Inshah allegedly hanged herself while engaged in a video conversation with her father. The timing of this incident adds another layer of heartbreak to an already devastating situation.

University authorities received information about the incident around 7:30 PM. Campus officials immediately responded to the emergency.

Emergency Response and Medical Efforts

University staff rushed Inshah to JN Medical College in critical condition. Medical professionals made every possible effort to save her life.

Despite their best attempts, doctors could not revive the young student. She was declared dead during treatment at the medical facility.

Investigations Launched

Civil Lines police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances leading to this tragedy.

Professor Mohammad Wasim Ali, the proctor of Aligarh Muslim University, confirmed the incident to news agency ANI. He stated that the university has sealed the student's room as part of their internal inquiry.

University's Official Statement

"The girl was a final-year diploma student and had been staying in SN Hall," Professor Ali explained. "She was immediately taken to the medical college where doctors made all efforts to save her, but she could not be revived and was declared dead."

The proctor emphasized that this matter remains under investigation. He noted that any formal complaint or FIR would receive proper attention from authorities.

No Suicide Note Found

Police officials confirmed that investigators did not find any suicide note in the student's room. This absence complicates efforts to understand what prompted such a desperate act.

The university administration has launched its own internal inquiry alongside the police investigation. Both probes aim to uncover the complete sequence of events and contributing factors.
