Gurgaon: The Higher Education Department (DHE) of Haryana has extended the deadline for first-year undergraduate admissions until June 30, granting eligible candidates an additional 15 days to submit their online application. This move provides relief to those who failed to complete the process earlier.
Extension Details
The centralized DHE admission portal covers government colleges, government-aided colleges, and self-financing private colleges across the state. The extension applies to all participating institutions under this system. Along with the application extension, the schedule for application verification, release of merit lists, fee submission, and physical counselling will also be revised. The updated timetable for these stages will be announced separately by the department in the coming days.
Revised Timeline
The online application process commenced on May 7, with the initial deadline set for May 31. Following requests from students and colleges, the department first extended the deadline to June 15. However, as several students were still unable to apply, the DHE has granted another 15-day extension, making June 30 the new final date.
Reasons for Extension
The extensions were granted to help students who missed the initial and revised application deadlines due to document-related delays, family ID verification issues, uncertainty about course selection, and other admission-related queries. The DHE has not reported any portal crash or technical failure as a reason for the failed application processes. The current notice only states the deadline extension.
These extensions are not new; the state has seen them several times before during undergraduate admissions. The department stated that the extension aims to ensure that no eligible student misses the opportunity to secure admission in undergraduate programs due to procedural delays or other difficulties.
Advice for Candidates
Authorities have advised aspiring candidates to complete their online registration well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues and ensure a smooth admission process.
