LITU Celebrates Inaugural Convocation with 82 Graduates in Nagpur
Nagpur witnessed a landmark academic event on Tuesday. Students from diverse backgrounds gathered at the Vasantrao Naik Memorial Hall. They attended the first convocation of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU). The ceremony recognized 82 graduates for their academic excellence and perseverance.
Dignitaries Emphasize Lifelong Learning and Innovation
Chief guest Ajit Saxena, former chairman and managing director of MOIL Ltd, addressed the gathering. He praised the students' hard work and dedication. Saxena stressed the importance of continuous self-improvement. "Upskilling yourself is your own responsibility," he stated clearly. He advised graduates to focus on financial literacy, health, and discipline. These elements, he noted, are crucial for sustaining a long professional career.
Saxena also touched upon regional economic contributions. He highlighted Vidarbha's manganese belt. This region currently provides nearly 20% of India's total manganese production. Production is expected to rise to 35% by 2030, he added.
University Leadership Calls for Contribution to Developed India 2047
Padma Shri Prof Ganapati Yadav presided over the ceremony. As Chairman of the LITU Board of Governance, he delivered a powerful message. Yadav urged the new graduates to actively contribute to Developed India 2047. He emphasized three key areas: research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
"No country can become developed without technological advancement," Prof Yadav asserted. He encouraged students to pursue curiosity, compassion, and a sense of purpose in all professional endeavors. The university's core aim, he explained, is to cultivate leaders. These leaders should create opportunities, not merely seek jobs.
Solar-Powered Campus and New Academic Programmes Announced
Vice-Chancellor Dr Atul Vaidya provided updates on the university's progress. He highlighted ongoing construction of administrative buildings and hostels. A significant achievement he shared is the campus's energy source. The entire LITU campus operates on solar power, making it carbon-neutral.
Dr Vaidya also announced exciting academic expansions. The university will soon launch new programmes in several cutting-edge fields. These include biotechnology, machine learning, management, multidisciplinary MSc courses, and artificial intelligence.
Mentorship and Professional Identity Encouraged
Prof Nitin Seth, Director of the Indo-French Centre for Advanced Research in New Delhi, also spoke. He encouraged the graduating class to make their work their identity. Prof Seth reinforced the vital role mentors play in guiding professional growth and development.
The convocation served as both a celebration of achievement and a call to action. It blended recognition of past efforts with a clear vision for the future, centered on innovation and national development.
