In a significant act of philanthropy, the chairman of Guntur-based Vignan educational institutions, Lavu Rathaiah, presented a generous donation to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Wednesday. The contribution, amounting to Rs 1 crore, was specifically earmarked for the TTD's Vidya Dana trust, which focuses on educational initiatives.
A Meeting for a Cause
The donation was formally handed over during a meeting at the camp office of TTD chairman BR Naidu in Tirumala. This substantial sum is expected to bolster the trust's efforts in supporting educational causes and providing scholarships, aligning with the donor's own background in the education sector through the Vignan group.
Spiritual Fervour Marks Vaikunta Dwadasi
The philanthropic event coincided with the spiritually significant Vaikunta Dwadasi festival at the hill shrine. The day was marked by the grand conduct of the Chakrasnanam rituals, a key ceremonial event.
Priests performed a series of sacred rites, including the Snapana Tirumanjanam, culminating in the immersion of the sacred Sudarshana Chakra in the holy waters of the Srivari Pushkarini. The entire ritual was carried out amidst the resonant chanting of Vedic hymns, creating an atmosphere of deep devotion.
Dignitaries and Devotees Participate
The ritual witnessed the participation of top TTD officials, including Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal and Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary. They were joined by thousands of devotees who had gathered to witness and partake in the sacred ceremonies, highlighting the widespread spiritual enthusiasm surrounding the festival.
The convergence of a major charitable donation for education and a grand temple ritual on the same day underscored the twin pillars of philanthropy and faith that are deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric of the region. The donation by Lavu Rathaiah stands as a notable contribution to TTD's ongoing charitable and educational missions.
