Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence Inaugurated in Vijayawada

In a landmark development for youth empowerment and character building in Andhra Pradesh, the Ramakrishna Mission officially inaugurated the Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence (VCHE) in Vijayawada on Sunday. The centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore in the Gandhinagar area of the city, represents a significant investment in holistic education and national service.

Dignitaries Highlight Centre's Mission as a 'University of Values'

The inauguration ceremony was graced by former vice president of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, who served as the chief guest, alongside Gautamanandaji Maharaj, the president of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. The event took place at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, where both leaders emphasised the centre's transformative potential beyond its physical infrastructure.

Addressing the gathering, Venkaiah Naidu described the mission as a "university of values" and a "powerhouse for nation-building." He elaborated, "This is not merely a building; it is a sanctuary for character and a lighthouse of knowledge for the youth." Naidu also inaugurated a newly established bookstall on the first floor, calling it a privilege to participate in an initiative that disseminates the wisdom of Swami Vivekananda.

Emphasis on Value-Based Education and Social Justice

Gautamanandaji Maharaj, reflecting on his four-decade association with the Ramakrishna Mission, underscored the critical need for value-based education in contemporary society. He stated, "Education without culture is prevalent today, but we need learning that empowers individuals to stand against injustice." He highlighted how Swami Vivekananda embodied the teachings of his Guru, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, by forsaking personal comforts to serve humanity selflessly.

Practical Initiatives and Future Programs

Swami Vinishchalananda, Secretary of the Vijayawada Ramakrishna Mission, announced that the centre will commence offering Civil Services coaching and specialised training programmes starting this June. This initiative aims to equip youth with the skills and ethical foundation necessary for public service and leadership roles.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donors whose generous contributions made the project possible, noting that their names have been inscribed on plaques within the centre. This gesture is intended to inspire future generations and acknowledge the collective effort behind this endeavour.

The Vivekananda Centre for Human Excellence stands as a beacon of hope and development, poised to nurture young minds through a blend of academic excellence and moral integrity, thereby contributing to the broader vision of national progress and human excellence.
