A deeply concerning incident has emerged from a government middle school in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district, where authorities discovered at least 35 students with cut marks on their wrists. The revelation has created significant tension among parents and prompted immediate action from the school education department.
Details of the Disturbing Findings
The case involves the Government Middle School located in Dahadaha village within Kurud block. Students from classes 6, 7, and 8 were found with multiple cut marks on their wrists during a recent examination. Although the injuries are estimated to be approximately 20–25 days old, the matter only came to public attention after a concerned parent approached the school principal about wounds observed on their child's wrist.
Upon closer inspection, school officials discovered similar healed cuts on dozens of other students. Preliminary investigations indicate that the children used various sharp objects including blades, pins, and thorns to inflict superficial cuts near their wrist areas. Most of these wounds had already healed and were only visible upon detailed examination.
Immediate Administrative Response
Taking serious cognizance of the situation, the district administration and Superintendent of Police Suraj Singh Parihar formed a joint investigation team. This team included officials from multiple departments including education, health, revenue, and police.
The investigative team visited the affected school, recorded statements from teachers and parents, and conducted interviews with the students involved.
