The 30-year-old teacher was taken into custody by Hulimavu police on December 4 after the father of the Class 7 student filed a formal complaint. The student, a resident of Doddakammanahalli and the son of a businessman, was reportedly not permitted to leave the school premises until 5:30 pm, even after the assault. Concerned when their son did not return home on time, the parents rushed to the school. They subsequently took the boy to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Law enforcement officials registered a case under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and BNS Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt). The teacher was arrested on the same day but was released on bail after being presented before a court.

A senior police officer provided additional context, stating that the student had a history of mischievous behavior that posed risks to others. The officer noted that the boy was known for pulling chairs away from classmates as they were about to sit, causing them to fall. Several students had reportedly complained about his conduct to the teachers.

The officer explained, "The teacher didn't allow the boy to go home as the principal suggested sending him after the swelling on his face decreased. We arrested the teacher on the same day, and the court granted him bail."
