Bhubaneswar's Sattwik Devta Achieves All India Rank 100 in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025
In a remarkable achievement, Sattwik Satyakam Devta from Bhubaneswar has secured All India Rank 100 in the prestigious Indian Civil Services Examination, the results of which were officially announced on Friday. This year, a total of 958 candidates successfully cleared the highly competitive examination, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
Background and Educational Journey
Sattwik, aged 29, is a mechanical engineering graduate from the Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) in Bhubaneswar. He completed his degree in 2018 and has been working as an assistant manager at Nabard since 2023. His father, Goswami Devta, is a retired bureaucrat, adding a legacy of public service to his accomplishment.
Persistent Effort and Preparation Strategy
Describing his journey as a long and persistent effort, Sattwik revealed that this was his sixth attempt at the examination. He successfully cleared the preliminary examination in all six attempts and reached the interview stage twice. Sociology served as his optional subject throughout his preparation.
He emphasized that his preparation was largely conducted from home, relying on structured practice to enhance performance. Sattwik utilized test series and regularly submitted answer scripts for evaluation as part of his comprehensive strategy.

Highlighting the essential approach needed for the examination, Sattwik advised aspirants to focus on conceptual clarity to score well. He recommended:
- Writing answers to sample and previous years' questions
- Aiming to cover the entire syllabus thoroughly
- Maintaining patience throughout the rigorous process
Other Notable Achievements from Odisha
The success stories from Odisha extended beyond Sattwik. Another Odia candidate, Amrit Mahapatra, secured rank 121, while Sai Raman Patra achieved rank 285. Amrit, a resident of Puri, had previously secured the 46th rank in the Odisha Civil Services Exam last year, and his father, Lalatendu Mahapatra, is a retired government official.
According to OUTR official sources, three of its alumni cleared the civil services examination this year. In addition to Devta (AIR 100), the list includes Vishal Pattanayak (AIR 341) and Debabrata Pramanik (AIR 467).
Overall, more than 10 candidates from Odisha successfully cleared the civil services examination, showcasing the state's growing prominence in this competitive arena. The top position in the civil services exam-2025 was secured by Anuj Agnihotri.
Examination Details
The main examination was conducted in August last year, followed by the personality test held in December last year, culminating in the recent announcement of results that have brought pride and recognition to many aspirants across the country.
