Union Budget Paves Way for Narela Education Hub and Sports Development in Delhi
Education Minister Ashish Sood announced on Friday that the Union Budget has set the stage for realizing the ambitious Narela education hub, with plans to develop five university townships near industrial and logistics corridors. This strategic move aims to integrate education with economic infrastructure, fostering a holistic development environment.
Land Acquisition and Vision for Narela Education City
The Delhi government has already secured 160 acres of land for the Narela Education City, which is poised to emerge as a major hub for education and logistics. Minister Sood emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Budget's broader goals, enhancing access to quality education while supporting industrial growth. The development of university townships in proximity to key corridors is expected to boost local economies and create new opportunities for students and professionals alike.
Boost in Sports Allocations and Khelo Mahakumbh
Highlighting the Budget's focus on sports, Sood noted that increased funding will enable significant initiatives, including the Khelo Mahakumbh in the capital. The Ministry of Sports' budget saw an 18% rise to Rs 4,479 crore, with specific allocations earmarked for key programs:
- Rs 924 crore for Khelo India, aimed at promoting grassroots sports development.
- Rs 500 crore for sports equipment manufacturing, to enhance domestic production and reduce reliance on imports.
- The Sports Authority of India's allocation now stands at Rs 918 crore, supporting national sports bodies and training facilities.
Additionally, the Delhi government has tripled its sports budget to Rs 76 crore, reflecting a strong commitment to fostering athletic talent. Along these lines, the Khelo Mahakumbh is being organized to encourage mass participation and identify promising athletes across the region.
A Transformative Budget for Viksit Bharat
Calling the Budget transformative, Sood stated, "This Budget lays the foundation of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and represents complete liberation from the colonial mindset." He highlighted the historic significance of the first-ever Budget prepared in Kartavya Bhawan and presented from Kartavya Path, marking a milestone in India's journey toward self-reliance and progress.
The Budget's emphasis on education and sports underscores a dual focus on intellectual and physical development, aligning with national goals for comprehensive growth. As Delhi moves forward with these initiatives, the Narela education hub and enhanced sports programs are set to play pivotal roles in shaping a vibrant future for the capital and beyond.
