Chennai Gears Up for Major Board Examinations with Over 67,500 Candidates

Chief Education Officer M Kabir announced on Sunday that Chennai district is set to conduct the Class 12 public examinations and Class 11 arrear exams from March 2 to 27. A substantial total of 67,516 candidates will participate in these crucial assessments.

Detailed Breakdown of Examination Candidates

The candidate pool comprises two main groups:

  • 64,359 school students from 578 government, government-aided, and private higher secondary schools across Chennai.
  • 3,157 private candidates who will be appearing independently.

Among the school students, the gender distribution shows 30,663 boys and 33,696 girls registered to take the exams. This reflects a balanced participation from both genders in the district's educational system.

Examination Schedule and Operational Details

The examination timeline has been clearly demarcated:

  1. Class 12 public exams: Scheduled from March 2 to 16.
  2. Class 11 arrear exams: Set to run from March 3 to 27.

All examinations will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM daily, providing a consistent testing window for all participants.

Infrastructure and Logistics for Smooth Conduct

To ensure the examinations proceed without disruption, extensive arrangements have been made:

  • 250 examination centers have been established across Chennai district.
  • A special center has been set up at the Central Prison in Puzhal to accommodate specific candidates.
  • Five question paper custody centers and five answer script collection centers have been organized to manage exam materials securely.
  • 65 dedicated routes have been arranged for the safe and timely transportation of question papers to various centers.

Personnel Deployment for Examination Duty

The education department has mobilized a significant workforce to oversee the examination process. A total of 6,150 personnel have been deployed for examination duty. These individuals will be responsible for invigilation, coordination, and administrative tasks to maintain the integrity and smooth functioning of the exams.
