Coimbatore District Gears Up for Class XII Board Examinations

Coimbatore: The education department in Coimbatore district is making extensive preparations for the upcoming Class XII board examinations, which are scheduled to be held from March 2 to March 26. According to official figures, a total of 36,564 students are expected to appear for these crucial exams.

Student Demographics and Registration Details

The registration data reveals that among the total candidates, 19,344 are boys and 16,368 are girls. These students hail from 365 government, aided, and private schools across the district. Additionally, 852 private candidates have also registered to take the examinations.

Comprehensive Examination Schedule

The exams will commence with Tamil and other language papers on March 2, followed by English on March 5. Subsequent dates include:

  • March 9: Chemistry, Accountancy, and Geography
  • March 13: Physics, Economics, and Employability Skills
  • March 17: Mathematics, Zoology, Commerce, Microbiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Textile, Food Service Management, Agricultural Science, and Nursing
  • March 23: Biology, Botany, Business Mathematics, Electronics, Civil, Automobile, Mechanical, Textile Management, and Office Management
  • March 26: Computer Science, Communicative English, Indian Culture, Computer Applications, Biochemistry, Advanced Tamil, Home Science, Political Science, Statistics, Nursing, and Basic Electrical Engineering

Infrastructure and Administrative Arrangements

The examinations will be conducted at 130 designated centers throughout Coimbatore district, with each classroom accommodating 20 students to ensure proper spacing and supervision. The education department has established seven question paper custody centers and organized 37 distribution routes to facilitate secure and timely delivery of exam materials.

A substantial team has been appointed to oversee the examination process, including 130 chief superintendents, 130 departmental officers, 2,100 invigilators, and 300 static and flying squad personnel. These officials will be responsible for maintaining exam integrity and addressing any issues that may arise during the testing period.

Student Support and Facility Provisions

Education department officials have confirmed that all examination centers have been equipped with essential facilities such as drinking water, toilets, and transport arrangements. The district administration has implemented comprehensive measures to create a smooth and fear-free environment for students, ensuring they can focus entirely on their academic performance.

Parallel Preparations in Salem District

In a related development, Salem district is also preparing for its Class XII board exams, with 37,542 students expected to appear at 153 examination centers. The district has established four question paper storage centers to support the examination process.

To ensure the smooth conduct of exams, Salem has formed a district selection committee chaired by Collector R Brindha Devi. This committee includes key officials such as the city police commissioner, district superintendent of police, deputy director of health, PWD executive engineer, superintending engineer of the electricity board, general manager of the state transport corporation, and fire safety officer.

Additionally, separate flying squads have been constituted to conduct surprise visits to all exam centers and take strict action against any individuals involved in irregular activities, thereby upholding the integrity of the examination system.
