CBSE Expands CTET to Two Days as Registrations Surpass 2.7 Million
CTET Now Over Two Days After 2.7M Registrations

CBSE Announces Two-Day CTET Schedule Following Record-Breaking Registrations

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a significant administrative decision to conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) over two consecutive days. This change comes in response to an overwhelming surge in registrations, which has now crossed the 2.7 million candidate mark nationwide.

Revised Examination Dates and Admit Card Details

Originally scheduled solely for February 8, 2025, the CTET will now be held on both February 7 and 8, 2025. The board has already issued admit cards to all registered candidates, with the specific allotted date clearly mentioned on each card. Candidates are advised to carefully check their admit cards for their designated test day and reporting time.

Unprecedented Registration Numbers Prompt Schedule Change

The online application window for this cycle opened on November 27, 2024, and officially closed on December 18, 2024. By the initial deadline, CBSE had received a staggering 25,30,581 applications. A notable rush was observed in the final 48 hours, with 7,68,199 applications submitted during that period alone.

Following the closure, the board received numerous complaints from candidates who faced technical difficulties and could not complete their submission process. Upon review, CBSE identified approximately 1,61,127 applications that were either incomplete or not finally submitted.

In a considerate move, the board provided these candidates with an extended window until December 30, 2024, to complete their registrations. This grace period pushed the total number of final registrations well beyond the 2.7 million threshold, directly necessitating the expansion of the examination to a two-day format to accommodate the massive candidate pool.

Purpose and Significance of the CTET

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is a mandatory national-level examination conducted by CBSE. It serves as the primary eligibility criterion for individuals aspiring to become teachers in schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education across India. The test is designed to assess the pedagogical knowledge and teaching aptitude of candidates.

While the CTET is traditionally held in the month of December, the scheduling for this particular cycle was shifted to February. The decision to extend the test to two days underscores the board's commitment to ensuring a smooth and logistically feasible examination process for all participants, given the extraordinary volume of applicants.
