Disabled Coimbatore Youth Triumphs in UPSC 2025, Secures All-India Rank 942
In an inspiring story of resilience and determination, a 25-year-old disabled youth from Coimbatore has cleared the prestigious UPSC civil services examination 2025, achieving an impressive all-India rank of 942. Abdullah Afridh, a resident of Al Ameen Colony in Ukkadam, overcame significant physical challenges to accomplish this remarkable feat.
Overcoming Disabilities with Unwavering Spirit
Abdullah Afridh suffers from multiple disabilities, including locomotor disability, which presented substantial obstacles throughout his preparation journey. Despite these challenges, he demonstrated extraordinary perseverance. After completing his postgraduation in economics in 2024, Abdullah dedicated himself to rigorous preparation for one of India's most competitive examinations.
First Attempt Success Through Strategic Preparation
What makes Abdullah's achievement particularly noteworthy is that he cleared the UPSC examination in his very first attempt. "The reason I chose to clear the examination is to support those who have helped me reach this height," Abdullah told media sources, expressing his gratitude toward his supporters.
His preparation strategy involved clearing the preliminary examinations online, followed by intensive coaching for the main examination. "For the main examination, IKLAS IAS Academy in Chennai extended free coaching, including sponsoring my stay," Abdullah revealed, highlighting the crucial support he received from the coaching institute.
Humble Beginnings and Family Support
Abdullah comes from a modest background that makes his achievement even more significant. His father, Abdul Azeem, works as a daily wage earner performing machine cutting work, while his mother, A Sharmila, manages their household.
"Despite being a daily wage earner, my father extended his full support to me," Abdullah acknowledged, emphasizing the unwavering encouragement from his family despite their limited financial resources.
Future Aspirations in Civil Services
With his UPSC success secured, Abdullah now looks forward to serving the nation through various administrative roles. "I'm pretty sure that I have possibilities in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and in a few other sectors," he stated confidently.
However, he noted that the final allocation of his service would depend on his marks in the upcoming evaluation phase. His achievement serves as a powerful testament to how determination, proper support systems, and accessible educational opportunities can help overcome even the most daunting challenges.
Abdullah Afridh's story resonates as an inspiring example for countless aspirants across India, particularly those facing physical or socioeconomic barriers. His success demonstrates that with the right support and unwavering dedication, even the most ambitious goals can be achieved against significant odds.
