EFLU Student Union Elections: Awaaz Alliance Achieves Landmark Victory
In a decisive electoral outcome, the Awaaz Alliance has secured all major posts in the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) students' union elections held on Wednesday in Hyderabad. This sweeping victory underscores a significant shift in campus politics, with the alliance emerging as a dominant force in student governance.
Comprehensive Win for Alliance Candidates
The alliance, a coalition of the Fraternity Movement, Muslim Students Federation (MSF), and National Students' Union of India (NSUI), clinched key leadership positions. Harshad Shibin NK, a PhD student representing the Fraternity Movement, was elected as president. Sonu Raj, a second-year BA (English) student from NSUI, won the vice president role. For the secretarial posts, Irfan Shajudheen, a BA (digital communication) student, was elected general secretary, while Haleemathu SS Adiya, a BA (Arabic) student from MSF, secured the joint secretary position. Additionally, the alliance triumphed in the cultural secretary and sports secretary races, completing a full slate of victories.
High Voter Turnout and Democratic Engagement
The elections witnessed robust participation, with a total of 1,319 votes cast, accounting for an impressive 85.15% voter turnout. This high engagement reflects the student body's active interest in shaping campus governance and policies.
