All eight individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) regarding the Ram temple donation controversy have been arrested, according to officials on Friday. The arrests mark a significant development in the case that has drawn widespread attention.
Details of the Arrests
The eight accused were taken into custody from various locations in Uttar Pradesh after a coordinated effort by the police. Among those arrested is Ram Shankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav, who is alleged to have been a former driver of Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The Trust is overseeing the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
According to the FIR filed earlier this week, the accused were involved in a scheme to collect donations fraudulently in the name of the temple. Police have recovered a significant amount of cash and documents during raids linked to the case, though exact figures have not been disclosed.
Impact on Temple Construction
The Trust has distanced itself from the accused, stating that it has no connection with the alleged fraudulent activities. A spokesperson for the Trust said, "We are cooperating fully with the investigation and have faith in the judicial process. Such actions do not reflect the values of the Trust." The construction of the Ram temple continues as planned, with no disruption reported.
The case has sparked debates about transparency in religious donations. Legal experts suggest that the arrests send a strong message against misuse of public faith. Further investigations are ongoing to determine if more individuals are involved.
