Maharashtra Board Introduces Free Counselling for Exam Students

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced a significant initiative to support students during the crucial examination period. The board will provide free counselling services to all students appearing for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC, Standard XII) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC, Standard X) examinations.

Examination Schedule and Counselling Availability

The HSC examinations are scheduled to commence on February 10 and continue until March 18, while the SSC exams will run from February 20 to March 18. These examinations will be conducted through divisional boards located across multiple cities in Maharashtra, including Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan.

To assist students, trained counsellors will be available to offer free tele-counselling services. These services will be accessible daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, both before and during the examination period. This extended availability ensures that students can seek support whenever they need it most.

Purpose and Scope of the Counselling Initiative

According to State Board Secretary Deepal Mali, the primary objective of this counselling initiative is to support students who may experience exam-related anxiety, stress, or negative thoughts. The board has appointed professional counsellors to help students manage mental pressure and maintain focus during their exams.

Mali emphasized that students and parents should refrain from contacting the counsellors for queries related to exam centres, seating arrangements, or question papers. The counselling services are specifically designed to address psychological and emotional concerns, ensuring that students receive appropriate guidance for their mental well-being.
