Gujarat Board Exams 2024: Comprehensive Plan Unveiled for Over 15 Lakh Students
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has officially announced its detailed action plan for the upcoming Classes 10 and 12 board examinations. The exams are scheduled to commence on February 26 and will continue through March 18, 2024.
Record Student Registration Figures
According to the latest official data, a staggering total of 15,27,724 students have registered for the board exams this year. This marks a significant increase of nearly 1 lakh students compared to last year's registration count of 14.28 lakh candidates. In addition to these figures, 1,341 students have registered for the Sanskrit Prathama and Madhyama exams, highlighting the diverse academic offerings.
Breakdown of Student Registrations by Class and Stream
The registration numbers provide a clear picture of the student distribution across different categories:
- For Class 10, a total of 9,07,175 students will appear. This includes 7,69,994 regular candidates, 19,825 private candidates, and 70,702 repeaters.
- In Class 12, the general stream has 5,01,286 registered students, while the science stream accounts for 1,19,263 students. The science stream comprises 1,11,294 regular candidates, 7,690 repeaters, and 279 separate candidates.
Inclusive Measures for Differently Abled Students and Prisoners
The board has also reported that 7,363 differently abled students have registered for the exams this year. This includes 4,877 in Class 10, 2,292 in Class 12 general stream, and 193 in Class 12 science stream, ensuring accessibility and support for all candidates.
In a notable inclusion, 99 prisoners will appear for the board exams, with 59 in Class 10 and 40 in Class 12. Special arrangements have been made in central jails located in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat to facilitate their participation. This number shows a decrease from last year, when 113 prisoners appeared for the exams.
Extensive Exam Infrastructure and Logistics
To conduct the exams smoothly, the board has selected 1,701 centers across the state of Gujarat. The examinations will be held in 5,565 buildings and 53,764 blocks, ensuring adequate space and resources for all candidates.
- Class 10 exams will be conducted across 87 zones at 1,006 centers.
- Class 12 exams will be organized in 59 zones at 695 centers.
This extensive infrastructure underscores the board's commitment to providing a conducive environment for over 15 lakh students to perform their best in the upcoming board examinations.
