The Haryana government has announced a significant educational initiative to establish composite technical laboratories in government schools throughout the state. This forward-thinking program aims to modernize the learning environment by integrating cutting-edge technologies into the curriculum, with approximately 100 schools slated to be included in the initial phase.
Empowering Students with Future-Ready Skills
The primary objective of this scheme is to equip students with employment-oriented and future-ready skills. By introducing subjects such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, and other modern technologies at the school level, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between traditional education and the demands of the contemporary job market.
Implementation and Oversight by HBSE
The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this comprehensive project. The labs will cater to students from Class 6 to Class 12, aligning with the guidelines set forth by the National Education Policy (NEP). Officials emphasize that these facilities will enable students to move beyond rote learning and gain hands-on exposure to emerging technologies.
This practical approach is designed to foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among young learners, preparing them for the challenges of the digital age.
Curriculum Updates and Teacher Training
As part of the initiative, the board is actively updating the curriculum and developing specialised training programmes for teachers. This ensures the effective delivery of technical education and supports educators in adapting to new teaching methodologies.
Each composite lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art resources, including computers, robotics kits, coding tools, and digital learning materials. These tools are intended to support practical learning and experimentation, allowing students to engage directly with technology.
Strengthening Digital Competencies
The project is expected to significantly enhance students' digital competencies, preparing them for careers in engineering, information technology, start-ups, and other innovation-driven sectors. In line with its focus on skill development under the NEP, the board has also decided to introduce structured computer education courses for students in Class 10 to Class 12 starting in the upcoming academic session.
These courses will include modules on software literacy and programming, further solidifying the foundation for technical proficiency.

HBSE chairman Professor Pawan Kumar highlighted that skill development remains a priority under the NEP. He stated that the composite technical labs will play a key role in preparing students for future competition. The project will initially be rolled out in 100 schools, with plans for expansion based on its performance and outcomes.
Teachers have welcomed the initiative, noting that it will help bridge the digital divide in government schools. By ensuring that students gain practical technical skills alongside theoretical knowledge, the program aims to create a more equitable and advanced educational landscape in Haryana.
