Jaipur Education Department Announces Admission Schedule for Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools

The Education Department of Jaipur has officially declared that the admission process for Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools will commence on March 14, 2024, for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. This announcement marks a significant step in the state's efforts to expand English-medium education access across Rajasthan.

Online Admission Process and Lottery System

Parents seeking admission for their children must submit application forms exclusively through digital platforms. The department has designated the Shala Darpan portal as the primary online gateway for form submission. Additionally, applicants can utilize QR codes provided by the education authorities to access the admission portal directly.

Following the submission deadline, all admissions will be finalized through a transparent online lottery system. This computerized random selection process aims to ensure fairness and eliminate any potential bias in student selection. The lottery mechanism has been implemented to handle the anticipated high demand for seats in these prestigious English-medium institutions.

Admission Guidelines for Different Class Levels

The department has issued specific guidelines regarding seat availability across various educational levels:

  • For schools with operational pre-primary sections: Fresh admissions will be open for all available seats in Nursery classes.
  • For remaining classes (1 through 10): Admissions will be granted exclusively for vacant seats, with no new sections being created.
  • For government schools introducing English-medium instruction for Class 11 for the first time: Separate admission guidelines will be released following approval of academic streams. These schools currently offer English-medium education up to Class 10.

Special Admission Quota for Philanthropists

In a notable development, the education department has established a special admission quota for philanthropists who have made substantial contributions to school development. This represents the only reserved quota applicable within Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools.

Eligibility for this quota requires that philanthropists have either:

  1. Adopted a school and undertaken development works exceeding Rs 50 lakh in value, or
  2. Donated a complete school building involving expenditure over Rs 50 lakh

According to an official order, "Based on the recommendation of such philanthropists, the school concerned is authorised to grant admission to a maximum of 2 students per section, subject to an overall limit of 10 students for the entire school per year."

This philanthropic quota applies to seats in addition to the prescribed seat capacity for classes operating within these schools. The initiative aims to recognize and incentivize substantial private contributions to educational infrastructure while maintaining transparency through clear numerical limits.

The announcement has generated considerable interest among parents in Jaipur and surrounding regions, with many expected to begin preparing application materials ahead of the March 14 opening date. Education officials emphasize that all admission procedures will follow strict guidelines to ensure equitable access to quality English-medium education across Rajasthan.
