KEA Extends UGCET Application Deadline to February 22

Karnataka Examinations Authority Grants Extension for UGCET Applications

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), the official body responsible for conducting the Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET) for admissions into engineering and various other professional courses across the state, has officially announced an extension of the application submission deadline. The new final date for submitting applications is now February 22, providing additional time for aspiring students to complete their registration process.

Official Announcement and Reason for Extension

KEA administrative officer Islauddeen Gadyal confirmed the decision, stating that the extension was implemented in direct response to numerous requests from students across Karnataka. The original deadline of February 17 has been pushed forward by five days to accommodate these appeals. Furthermore, the authority has also extended the last date for fee payment to February 24, ensuring candidates have ample opportunity to finalize their financial transactions without undue pressure.

Current Registration Statistics and Progress

As of the latest update, the registration drive has seen significant participation, with 2.9 lakh (290,000) candidates successfully registering for the UGCET using their Aadhaar numbers for verification. This streamlined digital process has facilitated a smooth and efficient enrollment system. Out of these registered applicants, 2.5 lakh (250,000) individuals have already completed the payment of their application fees, demonstrating a high level of commitment and preparedness among the student community.

Document Verification Status and Procedures

The document verification phase, a critical step in the admission process, is progressing steadily. KEA reports that the verification of documents for 1.8 lakh (180,000) students has been successfully completed through online platforms, leveraging technology to expedite the procedure. Additionally, verification for approximately 35,000 candidates has been conducted at the college level, ensuring a comprehensive and thorough review of all necessary credentials. This dual approach aims to maintain accuracy and transparency while managing the large volume of applications efficiently.

The extension underscores KEA's commitment to facilitating accessible and fair opportunities for students seeking admission to engineering and professional courses in Karnataka. Prospective applicants are advised to utilize the extended timeline to ensure their applications are submitted correctly and all required documents are verified promptly to avoid any last-minute complications.
