Khargone School's Administrative Failure Disrupts Board Exams for Students

In a shocking incident of administrative negligence, Class 12 students of Gayatri Vidyapeeth Higher Secondary School in Bhikangaon, Khargone, were prevented from appearing for their English paper in the board examination on Tuesday. The disruption occurred due to alleged gross mismanagement by the school administration, which failed to fulfill its basic responsibilities towards the students' academic futures.

Fee Deposit Delay Leads to Exam Exclusion

District Education Officer (DEO) Mahendra Kanude revealed to TOI that the private school had filled out examination forms for a total of 23 students—13 from Class 10 and 10 from Class 12, including both regular and private candidates. However, the school management neglected to deposit the required examination fees with the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education in Bhopal within the stipulated deadline.

The fees, amounting to Rs 3,73,175, were eventually deposited via RTGS on February 9, but this action was taken without prior permission from the board and well after the last date for submission. DEO Kanude emphasized that this late deposit constituted a clear violation of established examination rules and protocols, directly impacting the students' ability to sit for their crucial exams.

Serious Consequences and Official Action

In response to this serious lapse, district collector Bhavya Mittal instructed authorities to take stringent action. A formal letter has been sent to the Lok Shikshan Sanchalnalay in Bhopal, recommending the cancellation of the school's recognition. This move underscores the gravity of the situation and the authorities' commitment to upholding educational standards.

DEO Kanude described the incident as a case of gross administrative negligence on the part of the school principal and management. "This failure has caused grave injustice to the academic future of these students," he stated, highlighting the long-term repercussions for the affected individuals.

Broader Implications and Student Impact

The incident raises critical questions about accountability in private educational institutions and the safeguards in place to protect students' interests. The affected Class 12 students, who were preparing for a pivotal examination in their academic careers, now face uncertainty and potential delays in their educational progression.

Key points from the case include:

  • The school's failure to adhere to fee deposit deadlines violated board regulations.
  • Authorities have taken swift action by recommending recognition cancellation.
  • This negligence has disrupted the academic trajectories of multiple students.

As the investigation continues, this case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of administrative diligence in educational settings and the need for robust systems to prevent such occurrences in the future.
