Koderma Schools Face Review Over Low Class X Board Exam Results
Koderma Schools Reviewed for Low Class X Results

The Koderma district administration is currently reviewing explanations submitted by headmasters and subject teachers from 40 schools that failed to achieve a 100% pass rate in the Class X board examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) this year. The schools were given a two-day deadline to respond.

Decline in Performance

Koderma, which had celebrated a top-rank finish in the JAC Class X exams last year, slipped to the 20th position this year. The district recorded a pass rate of 93.86%, falling below the state average. Out of 12,214 students who appeared for the exams, 11,465 passed, raising concerns about the effectiveness of year-long initiatives such as 'Project Impact', 'Project Rail', and specialised residential coaching facilities.

Official Statements

Koderma District Education Officer (DEO) Avinash Ram stated, "The department is committed to ensuring the all-round development of children and implementing high standards of education for the improvement of results. Action will be taken after the review process is over."

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Utkarsh Gupta added, "The results are being reviewed. A workflow will be designed and implemented to improve the performance of students. The district administration is committed to improving the quality of education and performance of students."

Case in Point

Rajnandini, a student from the Upgraded High School in Sonpura, Jaynagar, secured the top position in the district. However, the school still received a notice because two out of its 130 students failed the exams.

Background

The district administration had launched several initiatives over the past year to boost educational outcomes, including 'Project Impact' and 'Project Rail', along with residential coaching for underperforming students. Despite these efforts, the overall pass percentage declined, prompting the current review.

The administration aims to identify gaps in the system and implement corrective measures to ensure better performance in future examinations.
